B i o

Alicia Castillo (b.1997) is a Phoenix-based composer and performer of acoustic and electroacoustic music. Her creative practice flows between composing, performing, educating, ensemble direction, and new music concert production. Inspired by curiosity and wonder, she thinks of her music as sonic experiments that explore musical metaphors and the creation of sound worlds that both listeners and performers can inhabit.

Her music has been performed at various concerts and festivals including the UGA New Music Festival, MISE-EN Festival, TUTTI New Arts Festival, EDME New Music Festival, and PRISMS New Music Festival. As a performer, Alicia has premiered guitar works by Gabriel Bolaños, Carlos Zárate, and Sofía Matus Cancino.

Alicia holds Master of Music degrees in Composition and Guitar Performance from Arizona State University, where she is currently a faculty associate. She also serves as adjunct faculty at Glendale Community College teaching music theory, aural perception, electronic music, and composition.
